Holly Sweeney

Holly SweeneyHolly joined Victory in the fall of 2015. She graduated from Ohio University with a degree in teaching English Language Arts grades 7 th -12 th . Over the years, Holly has had a variety of experiences working with students of all capabilities, ages, and backgrounds. In 2012 she spent over a year in the Netherlands completing her student teaching and working as an Au Pair for a Dutch family.

Holly first began working with special needs students during her field experiences in University, where she taught an inclusion based class with a co-teaching model. It was during this experience she saw how strong teaching, patience, and dedication can go a long way for students.

Once moving to Oregon she developed a greater interest in serving students with special needs and began working for the Multnomah Education Service District as a paraprofessional. A year later she found herself working with the talented students and staff at Victory Academy. During her time at Victory she has worked mostly in early intervention, but has also supported various classrooms across the school.

Holly holds an Initial Teaching Lenience in both Ohio and Oregon. She believes that a great teacher must also be life-long learner, who is guided by passion and patience in the classroom. Holly is very excited to work with students and staff in the Redwood classroom this coming year! In her free time, she enjoys traveling, playing soccer, exploring new parts of Portland, and eating all the delicious cuisine Portland has to offer.
