Magen Dignan

Board Certified Music Therapist/Music Teacher

Magen DignanMagen was born and raised here in Portland. She lived on the East coast for 12 years, and moved back 16 years ago when her first son was born. She received a BA in English literature from Boston University and a BA in music therapy from Marylhurst University. Magen has studied classical piano since the age of eight and has taught private piano for 18 years in her home studio.

Magen believes deeply that music is a gift meant for everyone and can open a whole new world of communication and self-expression. Both in the clinical field and in her private studio, Magen has had clients and students with autism. She has experienced the transformative power music has had in their lives. She also has a very special bond with her 23 year old nephew, who has autism. Magen is highly skilled at adapting to the needs of both the individual and of the group.

Magen spends her free time with Ted, her husband of 20 years and their two sons, Mitchell (17) and Seamus (16). They enjoy time at the Oregon coast and camping with their three dogs.
